The future of machine training courses is digital

In May, ASSOCCA*, where MA-system is a member, thirty-six of its member companies to participate in a webinar about the digitilisation of machine training in France. Many different views were presented during the webinar and all the participants agreed on that digital training has come to stay and will within a few years be the main training form.

The digitilisation advances in all areas and so also within machine training. New pedagogical approaches such as storytelling that focuses on affecting the students’ attitudes to risks at work. The educational companies that rely on traditional training methods without embracing digital solutions will face difficulty surviving already within a few years.

New technology takes time to incorporate. Therefore it is important that the companies that want to get going with digital education and blended learning get support from the providers.

Digital courses give environmental benefits since paper books are no longer needed. In many cases travel can be reduced as the theoretical part of the training in many cases can be done beforehand.

The time aspect was also raised. Many students experience that there is a lot of “waiting time” during machine training courses. By being able to conduct self-studies on line, the training time is used more efficiently.

Some summarizing remarks from the webinar:

  • The courses of the future are based on blended learning where the digital part is incorporated as a natural part of the course
  • Digitalisation will lead to greater profitability for all parties
  • New pedagogy leads to safer and more efficient machine operators
